about

White Dove is about a 5th Century Spanish Saint called St.Eulalia of Merida. She was burned at the stake for her faith. It is said that when she died a White Dove flew from her mouth. I thought this was such a powerful image and I wanted to write a song about it. At that time in my life I was being challenged to seek out what I believed the truth about something important so, I found solace in people like her. She inspired me to own my truth, even if I got flack for it.. it's a fuck you song really haha!

lyrics

White Dove
My mother and father they loved me
they showed me what love was and how to be free
the pureness of love in a newborn baby
the love I beheld in their piety

Their prayers of devotion spoke quietly
inspired my passion for things heavenly
I gave my life to love complete
these are the things you'll never take from me

I'd rather be hated and labelled as wild
than deny the truth of my innermost child
break my will break my mind
but from my mouth the white dove flies

I'd rather be hanged or burn at the stake
than betray my truth and my soul forsake
this is a song for the Sovereign self
never destroyed, never denied.
