about
The ultimate powerful woman: intuitive, psychic, knowing, and strewn out into the blaring and desolate bogs of Scotland- introducing.. the Three Witches from Macbeth. These poor women. They are described by his namesake as The Midnight Hags. And yet they are who he seeks out for help and guidance in his greatest time of need. They are punished for what they know. Too powerful for their own good. Scapegoats. Powerful scapegoats with absolutely no power. Truth in rags. I absolutely LOVE this song. I wept in the studio when it all came together. I watched Kendel (Carson) play her violin part with so much passion and vigor. Embodying everything that this song and album is about. Erik (Nielsen) (engineer) was sitting beside me in the tracking room, I was trying to hide my tears from him, and failing. It was a moment, the moment for me that it all came together.
lyrics
Midnight Hags
We stay in the dark
where its damp and cold
We're haggard, we're old
We do what we're told
We know, what we know
we cannot un-know
Our gifts a burden
Our knowledge a curse
We're truth in rags
We're midnight hags
