about
Inspired by the character Iphigenia from the Greek trilogy The Oresteia. Iphigenia is sacrificed by her father King Agamemnon to appease the goddess Artemis in order to win the Trojan war. This was the first song that I wrote for the album. I wanted to write from her perspective. What would she have been thinking knowing that she was going to be sacrificed by her own father? How would she have reconciled it in her own mind? I came to the conclusion that she must have had a completely impenetrable inner strength which gave her the courage to accept her cruel fate.Of course this is a fictional story, but the necessity of finding that inner grit in the face of adversity is a universal one.. The song is another big fuck you.
lyrics
Daddysaurus
And as the winds changed, so did my fate
All about me held their heads in shame
You please the gods to right your wrongs
And to the alter, like some filthy dog
these are the demands sent from above
forsaking me to set your people free
Its blood for blood, and it cannot be undone
what has been done in this house.
Tears streaming down your face, you'll whisper with such grace
“Isn't it awful sad?”, “What a waste!”
The blood's on your hands, you holy disgrace.
My Daddysaurus, I fear your chorus
I close my eyes and go to the altar
your scapegoat daughter- a lamb to the slaughter.
Its blood for blood, and it cannot be undone
what has been done in this house.
